- ある意見が一般に受け入れられていることを示す言葉があります。論説文では、普通、一般的意見の後に“自分の意見”が述べられ、そこが主要な論点になります。つまり、自分の意見を際立たせるために、その前に一般的意見を示しておくという手法が取られます。
1) 一般的意見を文章で表す：
Many / Most people think / believe / accept / say that ～.
「多くの人は～だと考えている / 言っている」
We / Most of us would agree that ～.
「我々（のほとんど）は～に同意するであろう」
It is generally agreed / believed that ～.
「～は一般に受け入れられている」
It has been established that ～.
「～は定説になっている」
There is general agreement that ～.
「～については一般的に意見の一致が見られる」
The fact / opinion that ～ is now widely accepted.
「～という事実 / 意見は、いまや広く受け入れられている」
Many people believe that money makes the world go around and that money buys happiness. But I do not agree with either idea because money can make people do strange things.
「お金は世界を動かしており、お金で幸せが買えると多くの人は思っている。しかし、私はいずれの考えにも同調しない、なぜならお金が原因で人は奇妙なことを行うからである」
2) 一般的意見を副詞で表す：
in many [most] cases「多くの [ほとんどの] 場合」
generally / in general「一般に」
broadly / broadly speaking「概して / 大まかに言って」
as a rule / on the whole / normally / usually「概して」
As a rule, people born in this period feel isolated and lonely in life, but I know a way to get out of such a terrible situation.
「概して、この時代に生まれた人々は人生において孤立し寂しく感じるものだが、私はそのようなひどい状況から抜け出す方法を知っている」
